The Comic Section Podcast Celebrates 400 Episodes With World War Z 2, Wolverine PS5, Miami Vice ’85 & More

The Comic Section Podcast has officially reached Issue #400.

Four hundred episodes of movies, television, anime, comic books, video games, pop culture, interviews, debates, reviews, laughs, and conversations have brought us to this milestone.

And we couldn't celebrate Issue #400 without bringing back a familiar voice.

Former Comic Section co-host Bobby, a.k.a. BC, Jason's cousin from Atlanta, returns as our special guest host to celebrate the podcast reaching 400 episodes.

Before getting into this week's entertainment news, we take a moment to reflect on the journey and thank everyone who has helped make The Comic Section what it is today.

Then, because this is still The Comic Section, it's time to get into the headlines.

John Leguizamo Joins Miami Vice ’85

The cast of Miami Vice ’85 continues getting bigger.

John Leguizamo has joined Joseph Kosinski's upcoming big-screen reimagining of the iconic television franchise as a villain.

He joins a cast that already includes Michael B. Jordan, Austin Butler, Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, and Danny Ramirez.

The movie will explore the glamour, corruption, style, and danger of mid-1980s Miami while drawing inspiration from the original television series.

Kosinski, whose recent work includes Top Gun: Maverick and F1, will direct the movie for Universal.

With a major ensemble cast and IMAX presentation planned, Miami Vice ’85 is shaping up to be much more than a simple television reboot.

Brad Pitt Returns for World War Z 2

It's alive.

After more than a decade of development problems and false starts, World War Z 2 is moving forward again.

Brad Pitt is set to return, with filmmaker Edward Berger attached to direct.

The original World War Z was released in 2013 and transformed Max Brooks' novel into a massive globe-spanning zombie disaster movie.

The sequel now has an opportunity to revisit that world while potentially exploring more of the ideas that made Brooks' original book so unique.

After 13 years, however, one major question remains:

Does World War Z still have enough momentum to become a major franchise?

Alan Ritchson Could Join Helldivers

The upcoming Helldivers movie may have found its new star.

Following Jason Momoa's exit from the project, Alan Ritchson is in talks to join Sony's video-game adaptation.

The movie is being directed by Justin Lin and will bring the satirical, over-the-top intergalactic warfare of the Helldivers games to the big screen.

Ritchson has already proven through action-heavy projects that he can handle physically demanding roles.

The bigger challenge will be capturing the strange combination of explosive action, satire, and “managed democracy” that has made Helldivers such a distinctive gaming franchise.

Toys “R” Us Is Making a Major U.S. Comeback

For generations of kids, Toys “R” Us wasn't simply a store.

It was an experience.

Now the iconic retailer is planning one of its biggest U.S. expansions since filing for bankruptcy nearly a decade ago.

Toys “R” Us plans to add 120 standalone locations, dramatically increasing its current U.S. footprint in time for the 2026 holiday shopping season.

For people who grew up visiting Toys “R” Us stores, the announcement immediately brings back memories of wandering through aisles filled with action figures, video games, bicycles, LEGO sets, wrestling toys, and countless other childhood obsessions.

But can a large physical toy retailer thrive in today's online shopping environment?

And can the modern Toys “R” Us recreate the feeling people remember from childhood?

Point Break Is Becoming a TV Series

AMC is returning to the world of Point Break.

The upcoming series takes place more than three decades after the events of Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 action classic starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze.

A new criminal crew inspired by the Ex-Presidents has emerged, forcing the FBI to recruit a mysterious former professional surfer to infiltrate the organization.

Rather than simply remaking the original film, the series will exist within the same world.

But Point Break remains beloved largely because of the chemistry, style, philosophy, and performances that defined the original.

Can a television series recreate that magic?

We'll find out.

It's finally time to unleash the claws.

Shawn gives his first impressions of the new Wolverine game on PlayStation 5.

Expectations have been enormous for Insomniac's take on Logan.

After the studio's success with Spider-Man, Wolverine gives the developer an opportunity to explore a darker, more violent superhero while maintaining the character-driven storytelling that helped define its previous Marvel games.

Does Wolverine's combat feel appropriately brutal?

Does Logan feel different enough from Spider-Man?
